Childhood: My favourite things – The Sound of Music

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens…

I must have seen the Sound of Music about a 100 times while growing up. It’s still one of my favourite movies and this song always reminds me of my childhood and makes me smile.

Teen years: A song for Mama – Boyz II Men

You taught me everything, And everything you’ve given me, I always keep it inside, You’re the driving force in my life, yeah…

I think this song best describes the highlight of my life as a teenager – the realisation that my mom was not the enemy. I used to fight with her all the time then one day I decided that enough was enough. We’re best friends now.

Adult years: Wild horses – Natasha Bedingfield

I see the girl I wanna be, Riding bare back, care free along the shore, If only that someone was me, Jumping head first headlong without a thought, To act and damn the consequence, How I wish it could be that easy, But fear surrounds me like a fence, I wanna break free…

When I was a child, I couldn’t wait to grow up. Now, I wish I could go back in time and really enjoy being carefree.
